Academy Components

The Academy for Student Affairs Professionals features four important components:

  1. FIVE DAY ACADEMY. The five-day Academy is an intensive experience in which participants are immersed in curriculum, reflection, and collegial sharing.
  2. ON-GOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Graduates of the five-day Academy are eligible to participate in on-going professional development seminars.
  3. FOLLOW-UP SUPPORT FROM SUPERVISORS. Supervisors of Academy participants play a critical role in the successful transfer of learning. Supervisors not only must approve employee participation, but also assist employees in accomplishing professional goals established during the Academy.
  4. DEFINED REFLECTION AND IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES. Participants engage in reflective activities, the final product of which is the creation of a Strategic Action Plan detailing goals related to Academy content.
